I think we are used to pushing. We live in a fast time, my friends. We really do get a LOT done. We tend to value productivity – but usually we discount the kind of spirit productivity that is invisible. The work of the soul, and the work of the soul creating, is often not seen as “real work.” Recently I just had a lot unfold in my soul and soul trajectory. Lots of inner work. Almost a sense of a birth, or growth spurt breaking the spring ground. A friend caught me wondering why I don’t feel like doing much and need some rest time. She laughed, knowing that I have been doing BIG work! We all need nap time! Time to sit and veg in front of a movie. Space to stare at the ocean.
Lately, many of my friends have experienced a similar kind of inner push. Something big unfolding inside them, almost with a timing of its own, like spring suddenly springing! Now seems like a great time for us all to cruise a bit. To take a big breath and ride the momentum of the push we just went through. Everything is unfolding, and we can trust it, rest, and take a moment to breath and integrate! And/or go to the beach! I myself am going to take a joyride for a bit! I invite you to join me!
It’s helpful to cruise for a bit. It clears the head, refreshes the body, and the soul delights in the breeze through it’s metaphorical hair! So here are some tips to encourage you to set the cruise control!
1. Take a minute to acknowledge all that you have been doing lately – on the outer and the INNER realms. Pat yourself on the back. My dear friends, we have been doing an amazing job. Time to raise our glasses to that!
2. Sometimes it’s helpful to give ourselves some designated time off. If you can’t go on vacation right now, then you might decide you are going to “cruise” and take it easy for a month. Or until Solstice. Or for a week, or a day – whatever you feel comfortable with. But sometimes setting a parameter on our time off helps our hyper productive personalities relax, knowing there is a time limit.
3. Do what is fun and restful for you now – not what you used to think was fun and restful! Now that you are taking a moment to breath and cruise for a bit, it’s a great time to check in with yourself about what you actually think is fun! What sounds fun to you these days? We change, we grow, and our ideas of fun often change and grow with us. Sometimes when we rest we turn to places of comfort and joy that, well, don’t really do it for us anymore. And then we don’t wind up recharging out batteries as we had intended. Give yourself permission to do what really sounds fun and relaxing in this totally unique now! You, after all, are totally unique now!
Have a beautiful, easy joyride. You so deserve it. And you’ve got enough momentum to enjoy the wind in your hair for awhile! And I promise you’ll feel like digging in again later. (Life and cycles are just like that) So for now, cruise, baby, cruise!
